For local courses, if you know you will have visitors, leave/vacation, routine TDY/TAD, etc., for a significant portion of the term (one week or more), you should consider taking the course the next time it is offered. For both local and distance ed courses, make-up quizzes and exams will not be offered for personal convenience or ordinary leave of students. If in doubt, contact me at the above phone or e-mail address before signing up.
Late submissions of assignments and make-up quizzes/exams will only be allowed for verified illness, emergency or official duties. Except for emergencies, arrangements for make-ups must be made in advance--this includes routine TDY/TAD. See the course syllabus for full details.
Refer to the UMUC Undergraduate Catalog for policies concerning attendance, incompletes, withdrawal, classroom behavior, grade appeals, writing standards and academic integrity, as well as other areas of importance to students.
All upper level courses (300-400) will include a term paper or comparable writing assignment as one of the course requirements. Refer to each course syllabus for specifics. In accordance with the UMUC Undergraduate Catalog: "Significant errors in grammar, punctuation and spelling on written assignments will be downgraded. No student will be awarded an 'A' (outstanding scholarship) on assignments when ineffective writing creates an obvious failure to communicate."
